spaetzle
Last night I made spaetzle from scratch, something I've never done before in my life.
Someone was talking about "drop noodles," and I thought, wtf are drop noodles? I've heard of drop biscuits, even drop dumplings, but drop noodles? Homemade pasta without a rolling pin or using a pasta machine? So, I researched and found out that spaetzle = drop noodles. Armed only with a basic recipe, and a colander, I sallied forth. Pretty labor intensive, and very messy, but very delicious. Voila!

I served a saute of asparagus and mushrooms over the top.

Arden, that looks absolutely delicious !!!! I've made spaetzle before but mine turned out smalller. Guess it depends on the size of the colander holes ??? Huh

Your saute loooks to be the PERFECT topping 4 it toooo...

GREAT photo !!!! Did you take it ? Ever submit recipes/photos to AllRecipes ?
You'd be goood @ it !!!!!!!

Anjil, you sweetie pie!
First time I ever made it, so I can only guess that yes, it depends on the size of the holes. Next time I try it, I'm gonna try it with a ricer. I'm thinkin' that will give both thinner and slighty longer noodles, we'll see! <g>
Yes, the sauté was really perfect with it.
Yes, I DID take the photo, thanks! Smile
I have never submitted recipes to allrecipes, but I use them sometimes. More often, I use recipezaar, where I have submitted some photos and recipes.

Got the spaetzle maker today, THANK YOU!!!
The holes are MUCH bigger than those on my colander, so??? We'll see! I can't wait to try it, and will be sure to report back.
