From the Smithsonian Folkways collection of “Ground Hog,” a traditional Appalachian folk song performed by various artists such as Pete Seeger, Mike Seeger and Red Allen.
In honor of the groundhog, listen to The Doc Watson Family perform their version of this classic bluegrass tune.

Coincidentally, Doc Watson’s first banjo was made from the head of groundhog hide.

At first when you said the name of the song, I forgot what today was and was only thinking of ground pork products. Dodgy

Apparently, ol' Phil has some competition in Iowa: Buckeye Chuck

What I hear is that Buckeye Chuck had a completely different result: an early spring. Let's hope that Chuck is right and Phil takes a nice long vacation.

Goooood mornin swinzez,

Re: the new KPIG page....gonna vote with Bob Burney--nice to see some change because it implies someone cares. I'm not bothered by the minor changes, but I do hope the HamCam gets fixed--mousing over it doesn't work, nor does clicking.

Ralphie --

Thanks for the Buddy Holly stuff this morning (including Big Daddy's "A Day In The Life"). Also, can you play that funny commercial you played yesterday, the one for Save Big Drugs & Ammo? That made me laugh out loud!

RE: Fresh Squeals!
Well the big problem with the overhauled home page is that the playlist no longer auto-refreshes. It just stays stuck on whatever sonnng was playing way back when the page first opened. Confused I've tried in Firefox & Safari...

THIS NO GOOOD. THIS VERY BAD !!!!!!! Angry

That, combined with the fact that there is no longer a Song Request Box or even any reference to the deejays who keeep this great station going (other than the outdated program schedule which still lists Vicki & Sherman as doing nights) gives me little reason to keep the KPIG homepage open on my computer.

An improvement ? I don't think so. (on a positive note, if I'm not busy checking out playlists, requesting sonnngs & clicking on Squeals, I'll get more of my Paper Angel work done, ha !!!!!) Big Grin
