Thank you! I might have to say it was the best birthday ever. The house wasn't destroyed and all but one cat are accounted for so far. I am counting my blessings. It is 95 in the shade here so I am missing that Santa Cruz weather already!!!

for the last umpteen years, I've been hauling this full sized 1970s vintage Nikko stereo reciever up to the berry, and feeding a pair of Advent outdoor speakers, which sound quite decent considering their size.

so I've been trolling ebay for awhile looking for a 'compact component' stereo reciever... these were sold in the 80s/90s, and are half width component systems, quite popular in Japan wherre space isa premium, but never sold that well in the US. Anyways, I scored a Denon UDRA-M10, which is the top box here, along with the remote.

sounds *great* into these little Advents, and seems to be pulling in a pretty solid signal from KPIG-FM using a folded dipole...

nice. my son has a similar denon ud m31 cd/recvr. great sounding gear, only about 10" wide, plenty of power...

RE: Fresh Squeals for July/August 2012!
The Sunday Morning Prayer for peace
Happy Birthday, Raffi

Raffi's tribute to humanity's hero sprang from Mandela's call to global leaders in 2000 to “turn this world around, for the children.” In 2001, Raffi sang this for Nelson Mandela at Toronto's Ryerson University.
The song expresses the essence of Raffi's Child Honouring philosophy, a children-first paradigm for societal change. A child-friendly world enriches all of us, and offers the best chance to create humand and sustainable cultures. All children want to live in peace, and to follow their dreams.
Child Honouring sounds a call to make a new covenant with the world's children. “Now is the hour, and we've got the power to turn this world around”, Raffi sings.

TURN THIS WORLD AROUND
(A Song for Nelson Mandela)
Words and music by Raffi, Michael Creber
© 2001 Homeland Publishing*

from Raffi’s CD
Resisto Dancing: Songs of Compassionate Revolution

a capella
We heard it from Mandela, turn this world around
– for the children – turn this world around
He’s done it once before, and now we hear his call
– for the children – turn this world around!

chorus
Turn turn turn, turn this world around – for the children
Turn this world around
Turn turn turn, turn this world around – for the children
Turn this world around

verse 1
The dreams of our young ones born into this world
Need respect and love to come alive
Honouring the children is what we’re here to do
Now is the hour and we’ve got the power to

verse 2
If every nation’s leaders put their children first
Care and provide for every child
Each and every household could sing a song of joy
All round this planet, a new light within it could

bridge
And the children sing: help our light to shine
May we all be fed, may we all be loved
May the elders here open up their hearts
To this song of ours, may they do their part
May our dreams unfold, may we find our place
In a healthy world, embracing every race
May we all be free, may we live in peace –
Hear the children sing, hear us sing
